“We love our animals, our flowers, our soil, and our community,” said Kendra Kennedy, owner of Dogwood Farms with her husband Chris. In 2018, the couple moved from Long Island to a five acre farmette in Sugar Creek, Wisconsin. There they are building a farm business around the love of flowers using regenerative and organic farming practices to care for ecosystems both above and below the soil.
Join Ozaukee Master Gardeners on Thursday, August 22 at 7:00 pm via Zoom for “Small-scale Flower Farming with Ecosystems in Mind” to learn how the Kennedys are growing their farm into a healthy, flourishing flower farm, currently run on a half acre of the property. Now in its fifth season, Dogwood Farms provides fresh flowers directly to customers via flower subscriptions, pop up bouquet sales, and regular weekend retail sales. The discussion will also focus on the differences between cut flower farming and gardening, the benefits and challenges of regenerative and organic practices on a small-scale flower farm, and answer frequent questions people ask about Dogwood.
